Summer

at Camp Fairlee
Dear Campers and Families:

Unfortunately, because of COVID restrictions and unprecedented staff shortages due to travel bans and visa issues for our international counselors, our summer sessions at Camp Fairlee are completely full at this time. We know this is disappointing news for our campers and families who have been looking forward to some well-deserved respite.

We are evaluating our ability to hold respite weekends beginning in the fall and hope to have an announcement later this summer about their availability. We are working hard to provide a safe environment for all of our camp family as soon as circumstances permit and look forward to a time when we can welcome everyone back to Camp Fairlee!

In the meantime, we’d like to share with you links to the Virtual Camp Fairlee videos that we posted last summer when camp was completely closed. You can find them on our Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore YouTube channel. We hope they will bring a smile to your face until we can all be together again in person at camp!

In Camp Spirit,
Sallie Price
Director of Recreation and Respite Services

Summer Camp Types

3:1 Overnight
Summer Camp

The summer program at Camp Fairlee provides a traditional camp experience for campers of all ages and abilities to experience adventures! Daily schedules include activities such as arts & crafts, music, sports, games, swimming, hiking, canoeing, hayrides, campfires, and more. The summer camp staff is comprised of professionals and college students recruited from around the world. Each staff member is carefully selected based on skills and experience. An extensive week-long, pre-camp training encourages the enthusiasm, creativity, and sense of commitment that is our tradition.

1:1 Overnight
Summer Camp

In addition to 3:1 camper to counselor sessions, Camp Fairlee also offers specialized 1:1 ratio summer sessions. While campers enjoy swimming, singing, and doing arts & crafts at one of Camp Fairlee's 1:1 respite weeks, their caregivers can take some much-needed time off from caregiving.  Participants will follow the daily camp schedule. There are limited number of spaces for these sessions - please call ahead before registering.

Daily Adventures

Offered during the summer, participants in the program reside at Camp Fairlee during the week, but activities involve a daily field trip to nearby points of interest. Destinations include the seashore, state parks, zoos, and other attractions in nearby cities such as Washington D.C., Annapolis, and Baltimore. The Youth Daily Adventure is for children ages 13-21 and the Adult Daily Adventure is geared towards adults 21 and above. PLEASE NOTE: due to the pandemic, our Daily Adventures camps are postponed until 2022.

Registration Information

All new applicants and their parents/guardians/caregiver must participate in a pre-camp interview with camp staff prior to acceptance. Once we receive your completed registration, an interview will be scheduled. This allows staff to familiarize themselves with the participant, to assess the participant’s needs, and to be sure they have applied for the appropriate participant to counselor ratio. We make every effort to accommodate all applicants. However, Camp Fairlee reserves the right to accept or deny any application prior to attendance.

The completed camp application must be sent with a $100 non-refundable registration fee for each session chosen. Applications sent without the fee will not be processed unless a funding source (i.e. clubs, community organizations and/or churches) have agreed to pay the entire cost. In this case, a “Letter of Intent to Fund” must be received and on file. A copy of this form is enclosed and must be submitted to the agency or organization that will provide the funding and then faxed, emailed or mailed to the camp. You will not receive an acceptance packet until you have completed the registration process. One half of the fee is due no later than June 1st, and the balance is due by the first day of the camp session. If an agency is paying, then a completed “Letter of Intent to Fund” must be on file.

Refunds: The registration fee of $100 is non-refundable. Participants will receive refund of the fee received if they cancel no later than one week prior to registered session. Participants who choose to withdraw while program is in session will not receive any refund. Exceptions will only be made in case of family or medical emergencies. In such cases, a pro-rated refund will be applied. All refunds must be approved by the Camp Director.
